About

Award-winning food and wine writer Marisa Finetti was born in Tokyo and raised in the San Francisco bay area surrounded by her family’s restaurant and retail businesses.

After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a journalism degree, she worked for Paramount Pictures in television and film promotion, then left the industry to become a wine grape grower in Sonoma County.

Fifteen years after journalism school, an encounter in a Las Vegas Italian steakhouse sparked her re-discovery and appreciation for the world of wine. It was then when Marisa decided to write her first wine story. Today, she regularly contributes to Decanter, Wine EnthusiastDavid, and Modern Luxury magazines. She writes original pieces and creates wine sketches (#MarisasWineDoodles) for her website and also accepts art commissions. She has won awards and recognition for both her writing and her art. Marisa often travels to meet with producers to discover their link to the land. She is a 2016 and 2018 fellowship recipient of the Professional Wine Writers Symposium. She holds an Advanced Level 3 wine certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), as well as a certified Piedmont Food & Wine Specialist through 3iC. Marisa has been a panelist for the Collisioni Wine Project and is a member of the Circle of Wine Writers.
